Two Taliban militants have been killed as their explosive device went off prematurely in former Taliban stronghold of southern Kandahar province, the provincial government said in a statement on Tuesday.

The incident took place in Maiwand district Monday afternoon when two Taliban fighters were planting a mine on a road to target security personnel but the device went off prematurely killing both of them on the spot.
