A 75-year-old man beat his ex-wife to death around 2 am Tuesday in their apartment in Jiading district, local media reported.

The suspect, surnamed Yan, called police himself to report the crime. He said he beat the 74-year-old woman to death over a family dispute. The woman's body was found with multiple injuries.

It was unclear why the two were still living together.

Police took Yan into custody after arriving at the scene.
