Iran arrests suspected murderer of deputy minister: police chief

Tehran's police chief announced Wednesday that the suspected murderer of a deputy minister was arrested two days after the incident, semi-official ISNA news agency reported.

On Sunday, Safdar Rahmatabadi, the deputy minister of industry, mines and commerce, was shot dead in his car in the east of Tehran by the gunman.

Sardar Sagedi-Nia, the Chief Commander of Tehran Police, said the suspect was arrested in his house in the east of Tehran 48 hours after the crime, according to the report.

The police chief did not detail the name and the motivation of the murderer, but said he is being investigated for further information.
