Japan provides grant for five projects in Myanmar

The Japanese government has provided grant of $727,387 for five projects in Myanmar under Grant Assistance for Grassroot Human Society Projects (GGP) Scheme, official media reported Sunday.

The GGP will be spent n construction of high schools, agricultural produce transport road, hospital and bridge in some townships, according to the grant contracts signed between Japanese Ambassador Mikio Numata and chairmen of the Myanmar's committees for the five projects.

The assistance will improve educational, social and economic environment and further strengthen the existing relations between Myanmar and Japan, the New Light of Myanmar said.

The Japanese government has helped 646 various grass-root projects in Myanmar under GGP scheme since 1993, it added.
