No.1: List of working-class beauties in China goes viral 爆红的民间西施 137449

A recent article listing recent photos of attractive young women who have achieved Internet fame for working regular jobs has gone viral. The article compares the women to Xishi, a figure in ancient Chinese history that was celebrated for her beauty.

Xu Siqiong, a sophomore of Zhuhai College of Jilin University, was dubbed “Tong sui Xishi” after a group of photos was posted online showing her selling Tong sui (or sweet porridge) in her family store.

Liu Yidan, an employee in a soymilk shop at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology Wuchang branch, also enjoyed Internet fame recently for her “pure” beauty.

High school student Zhang Zetian was dubbed “milk tea girl” after a photo of her holding a cup of milk tea in a classroom went viral. She is now attending the prestigious Tsinghua University in Beijing.

Zhu Min, a 21-year-old student at Jiangxi Normal University, achieved Web fame after being photographed helping her parents sell rice cakes during her summer holiday.

No.2: Luxury wedding puts ‘model worker’ in hot water 劳模嫁女 65520

A commission is investigating Chen Shaoxiang, an official and nationally-recognized ‘model worker’ in Guiyang, Southwest China’s Guizhou Province, for holding a luxurious wedding ceremony for his daughter, China Youth Daily reported on November 14.

The discipline inspection commission of Yunyan district of Guiyang said that the ceremony, which included 135 tables that seat around 10 guests each, cost 733,800 yuan ($ 120,416).
It was reported Chen received 821,700 yuan ($134,841) in cash gifts from relatives, friends and 40 steel industry businessmen. Punishment is pending.

According to official website of Guiyang government, Chen is the Party branch secretary of Jinguan village in Guiyang, and also a ‘national model worker.’

No.3: Google satellite snaps possible Chinese aircraft carrier base 谷歌曝三亚航母 62269



A satellite photo of Sanya, South China’s Hainan Province that appeared on Google recently may be a secret aircraft carrier base, huanqiu.com reported.

The photo, which shows a long pier-shaped object jetting outward from the coast, is located in a prohibited military zone currently under construction.
