This might look like a normal chart of stock prices, but what it is actually tracking, are Bitcoin prices.

April 25th 2010, Bitcoin had its first public transaction. Then, valued at just 3 US cents.

March 2013, and1 Bitcoin buys $40.

Bitcoin’s buying power sky rocketed to $143 by early April and a staggering 266 by April 10th. It’s valued has multiplied 8800 times, in just three years.

One of its early traders gained the most. Li Xiaolai sold his Bitcoins at around that time, and bought more when it plunged as low as $50.

"I’ve only trade it once, the number of my bitcoin increased to 1.3 times more than before. I can tell you now... it’s around six digits now," experienced Bitcoin user in Beijing Li xiaolai said.

Many can’t help wondering why people are so fanatic about this online trading medium?

"US government prints money every year.... inflation about 4 percent ... so the greenbacks depreciates 4 percent annually. But bitcoin has ceiling," Bitcoin user of Beijing Jack said.

Bitcoin users think this currency is inflation-risk-free. There is a 21 million unit ceiling on Bitcoin, hence its value will only go up. Many users view Bitcoin as a safe haven. There are 1000 actual coins in circulation. But Chinese experts say it is unlikely for Banking regulators such as the Federal Reserve to ever approve a virtual currency.
