Shanghai railway police are reminding parents to keep a close eye on their children, after a young boy went through an X-ray baggage scanner at one of the city's train stations on Sunday - as his absent-minded mother gabbed on the phone.

As the mother and the son approached the security check, the little boy suddenly jumped onto the scanner.

Calling after the "naughty boy," a security officer tried to stop the boy when he saw him getting on the scanner, which is only meant the belongings of train passengers - and not passengers.

But the officer was unsuccessful and the boy went through the scanner.

The mother, who was distracted on her phone the whole time, failed to notice her son's behavior in time.

Shanghai's railway police further warned parents to keep their children away from the baggage scanners, saying that some of the machines use levels of radiation that can be harmful to children's health.
