Cusco's Real Garcilaso on Sunday defeated Lima's Universitario de Deportes 3-2 in the first leg of Peru's soccer league.

The match was played in the municipal stadium of Espinar, at 3,900 meters above sea level.

With this victory, Real Garcilaso only need a draw in the second leg to win the tournament.

Real Garcilaso climbed to the first division in 2012 and also became runners-up in that year's tournament.

Garcilaso's midfielder Cesar Ortiz scored the first goal in the second minute. Paraguayan forward Victor Ferreyra scored a second in the 45th minute.

Universitario's Diego Guastavino was fouled so the referee awarded a penalty which was converted by forward Raul Ruidiaz at the 68th minute. Later, Sebastian Fernandez leveled the score.

Argentine Alfredo Ramua hit the winner for Garcilaso.

The second leg will be played in Lima's Monumental stadium on Dec. 15.
