Samsung Electronics, the world's largest smartphone maker, said Tuesday that its latest version of Galaxy Note series became the 10-million seller just two months after its launch.

Sales of the Galaxy Note 3 topped 10 million at the end of November, two months after it was rolled out on Sept. 25 in 58 countries worldwide, Samsung said in a statement via e-mail.

The phablet, or a hybrid of smartphone and tablet PC, surpassed the 10-million-mark faster than its predecessors Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2, which took nine and four months respectively to breach the level.

The 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3 phablet featured bigger displays than smartphones and better portability than tablets.

Samsung said the demand for the Galaxy Note 3 was strong in Asia, including China, South Korea and Japan as well as the Southeast Asian nations, saying that Chinese consumers especially favored the S-Pen function, which enables users to write Chinese characters on display as if on paper.
