Pakistan, Sri Lanka strengthen security relations

Visiting Pakistani Naval Chief had discussions with his local counterparts on improving security relations between the two countries over the weekend, the official navy website said on Monday.

Pakistani Naval Chief Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila, NI (M) visited Sri Lankan Naval Headquarters for the discussions, the report said.

Admiral Sandila was received by Commander Sri Lankan Navy, vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage upon his arrival at Sri Lankan Navy Headquarters in Colombo.

Admiral Sandila was accorded a guard of honor by a smartly turned out Sri Lanka Navy contingent.

He later held detailed discussion on bilateral cooperation with his Sri Lankan counterpart.

Admiral Sandila also met senior officers of Sri Lanka Navy.

The discussion was focused on ways and means to enhance navy to navy relationship especially in the domain of counter terrorism and maritime security.

The chief of Naval Staff Pakistan was assisted by his delegation members and Colonel Sheharyar Parvez Butt, Defense Advisor Pakistan.

The two sides exchanged mementos at the conclusion of meeting.
