Indian police have booked a Bahraini diplomat for allegedly molesting a woman in Mumbai earlier this month, a senior police official said Thursday.

"The police have, however, not arrested Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Khaja, the consul general of Bahrain in Mumbai as he enjoys diplomatic immunity. But, the Ministry of External Affairs has been informed about the charges leveled against him by a 49-year- old Indian woman working as a manager at his Nepean Sea Road housing society," he said, on condition of anonymity.

In her complaint, the victim has alleged that the diplomat had on Dec. 9 lost his tempers on seeing the elevator of his housing society shut for repairs and molested her as well as used offensive language against her.

"We are probing the matter," the official added.
