The Palace Museum has been closed to the public every Monday to allow the management department more time to make progress on their "Safe Palace Museum" project, the Beijing Youth Daily reported. The "Safe Palace Museum" project approved by the State Council in November 2013, is aimed at upgrading the security facilities in the Museum and making the museum environment more sustainable and tourist-friendly. Starting last November, the museum began publicizing the new closing time to inform travelers.
