Police in Qinzhou, Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, rescued a lost one-year-old toddler who had survived alone in the wild for two days.

Doctors found Xiaomei (pseudonym) to be in good health after she wandered off into the mountains during a wedding banquet.

Local police and family members rushed to the site after a villager alerted them to a vital clue on Friday - one of baby Xiaomei's shoes on a nearby road.

"She was covered by dust all over and looked dirty," said Wu Jiabin, the police officer who soon after found Xiaomei sitting beside a nearby roadside tree.

"It's incredible for such a young toddler to survive alone in the wild," said Wu.

Xiaomei's father surnamed Zhang of Qiaoping village explained he lost track of his daughter while he was getting food at a wedding feast in another village a kilometer away on Wednesday.

After a frantic and desperate search, the family reported Xiaomei as missing to local police, who scoured the guest list in case she was abducted.

"She had just learn how to walk. She couldn't have walked very far," Xiaomei's aunt surnamed Zhang was quoted as saying.
