Kazakhstan is considering its participation in China's
Silk Road economic belt, rusnews.cn reported Saturday, citing Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Kairat Sarybay.
During Sarybay's meeting with Chinese ambassador to Kazakhstan Le Yucheng, Sarybay reportedly said "Kazakhstan is ready to actively participate in the implementation of the large-scale project, which will cover fields including economy, trade, investment and culture."
The idea was initiated by Chinese President
Xi Jinping during his State visit to Kazakhstan in September 2013 and was supported by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, according to the report.
