Syria's Foreign Ministry slammed on Monday the statements issued by a meeting of "Friends of Syria" group in Paris on Sunday, official SANA news agency reported.

In a statement, the ministry said the outcome of the meeting is based on illusions rather than reality and is far from any acceptable political logic.

Earlier, Ahmad Jarba, the leader of Syria's opposition National Coalition, said that the international meeting of the US-led " Friends of Syria" agreed that President al-Assad and his family will have no role in the country's future.

His remarks apparently raised the ire of Syria's administration that has repeatedly said it won't accept any preconditions to the upcoming Geneva II peace conference.

"Syria stresses that it's not concerned about any one who pretends to talk on behalf of the Syrian people, weather Arabs or Westerners, because the Syrian people are the ones who should determine what they want, choose their leadership and the shape of their state, and all other talks are nonsense that the Syrians are unwilling to hear," the ministry said in its statement.

Once again, the ministry stressed, Syria has agreed to participate in Geneva II peace talks without preconditions and whomever tries to put preconditions to the conference is sentencing the conference to failure, it added.

The conference, slated for Jan. 22, is aimed at engaging warring Syrian parties to negotiate a solution to the prolonged crisis.
