Combining elements of rock, pop and classical music, Pirates & Sorcerer promises to wow audiences in Beijing when it opens at the Forbidden City Concert Hall on next Sunday.

"I always wanted to organize a group that bridges classical and pop music. Gradually I found like-minded people and Pirates & Sorcerer was born," said Wang Jiangmin, one of the group's founders and violist.

Together with Wang, pianist Li Yue, violinist Tang Yun, cellist Song Zhao, bass player Xu Jingying and percussionist Li Nanzi, six people formed this group which is dedicated to creatively reinterpreting  various kinds of music. Their song list includes music from Cinema Paradiso, Phantom of the Opera, La Truite, Looking for Hisaishi and So Young. Each will be made unique by Pirates & Sorcerer.
