The UN nuclear agency will hold a board meeting on January 24 to consult with board members regarding the implementation of the Joint Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program, the agency chief announce on Wednesday.

"I welcome the recent announcement by the EU High Representative Catherine Ashton regarding the implementation of the Joint Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program," said Yukiya Amano, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

"I have requested that a meeting of the Board of Governors be convened on 24 January,"he added.

The meeting was aimed to facilitate the monitoring and verification of nuclear-related measures in relation to the Joint Plan of Action, which was agreed by the agency and Iran to ensure the peaceful nature of Tehran's nuclear plan.
