China's Yu Jing, the 2012 champion, topped the two 500-meter races to regain the title in the world sprint speed skating championships in Nagano, Japan on Sunday, leading China's one-two finish with Zhang Hong second.

Defending champion Heather Richardson of the US came in third.

Dutchman Michel Mulder retained the men's title after clocking the fastest times in the two 500-meter sessions over two days.
