The UN nuclear agency is ready to play its role in inspection to ensure the implementation of the Joint Plan of Action agreed by Iran and six major states, the Vienna-based agency said on Monday.

A report released by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) noted Iran began to implement the Joint Plan of Action, showing Tehran is scaling back its nuclear activities.

Yukiya Amano, IAEA Director General, said the implementation of the Joint Plan of Action is important.

"The IAEA is ready to undertake monitoring and verification in relation to the nuclear-related measures set out in the Joint Plan of Action," said Amano, adding he would seek the endorsement of the board members in a meeting on Friday.
