Turkish government sent out a warning in Ankara, Istanbul and the southern province of Hatay on a possible suicide attack from an al-Qaida linked group, local Dogan News Agency reported Tuesday.
Intelligence information showed that 20 militants of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) were planning attacks to disrupt this week's Geneva II peace talks, the report said.
The militants were particularly planning to target hotels and meeting rooms where members of the Syrian opposition and the Free Syrian Army stay, according to the report.
On Monday, at least 10 people were killed and dozens were wounded in two car explosions near a Turkish-Syrian border gate.
The Turkish authorities have heightened alertness over the spillover of the Syrian civil war into Turkey.
