French Foreign Affairs Minister Laurent Fabius on Wednesday said it is estimated to be "difficult" to find a diplomatic alternative to end Syrian crisis, adding political talks are the only outlet to restore stability in the violence-torn country.

"The only solution to end the Syrian drama is political and not military. It took a year and a half to hold (Geneva II) conference, which shows that it is very difficult (to reach a compromise on the Syrian issue)," the French top diplomat said.

"I do not hide the difficulties but there is no other solution than political discussions. France will try to put all his weight in that sense," the minister was quoted as saying by the news channel BFMTV.

On Wednesday, delegations of the Syrian government and the opposition gathered, for the first time in three year, at one-day meeting in Switzerland in a new round of peace talks which world's powers hope will come out with a solution to stop years-long bloodshed in the Arab country.

"We are working to make a success this conference whose objective consists in creating a transitional government composed with all the factions," Fabius said.
