The Chinese government on Wednesday donated 600 sets of radio transmitters to the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) in order to increase the capacity and efficiency in information communication among armed forces.

Speaking during a handover ceremony at the Headquarters of the Infantry on the outskirts of the capital Phnom Penh, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Bu Jianguo said the fast and timely exchange of information was very important for national defense obligations.

"China hopes that the radio transmitters will help improve the capacity and efficiency of Cambodian armed forces in information communication," she said.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador reiterated that China would continue supporting Cambodia in developing economy and reducing poverty.

Gen. Meas Sophea, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the RCAF, spoke highly of excellent ties between Cambodia and China in all fields and expressed gratitude to China for its contributions to build capacity for the Cambodian armed forces.

"The radio transmitters will help soldiers to exchange information fast and timely," he said at the ceremony.

Chinese experts have also taught Cambodian soldiers on how to install and operate the transmitters, he said.
