Police have named the man they say is responsible for an organized and premeditated attack in which 12 terrorists died on Friday in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, news portal ts.cn reported late Sunday.

Ibrahim Kha organized illegal religious activities, spread extremist thoughts and formed a 17-member terrorist group, the Xinjiang portal said.

Kha and other members made explosives in their rented apartment and traveled on three motor trikes to designated locations in the county seat of Xinhe in Aksu prefecture. 

Six died in their own explosions and six others were gunned down by police, Xinhua said.
