The trial of Egypt's ousted president Mohamed Morsi and 130 others over charges of 2011 jailbreak kicked off in Cairo on Tuesday, state TV reported on Tuesday.

Official news agency MENA reported that Morsi was flown by a helicopter from Borg al-Arab prison in Alexandria to the headquarters of the Police Academy in Cairo where the trial is taking place.

The hearing is being aired live exclusively on State TV.

Morsi stands trial along with more than 130 other Muslim Brotherhood members, and members of the Palestinian militant group Hamas and Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah for storming the Wady al-Natroun prison and kidnapping and killing police officers during the 2011 uprising.
