About seven Yemeni army soldiers were injured in a roadside bomb blast in the southeastern province of Hadramout on Tuesday, a security official told Xinhua.

Two military vehicles of the 37th Armored Brigade were hit by a landmine near a sports stadium in Hadramout province, injuring about seven soldiers, the local security source said on condition of anonymity.

"The blast occurred along a main roadway in Hadramout's outskirts at around 2:50 p.m. local time (1150 GMT)," the security official said.

The military vehicles set off an improvised explosive device ( IED) and the injured were taken to a military hospital in the region, an army officer told Xinhua.

On Saturday, Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi declared the closure of a national reconciliation dialogue which endorsed a new federal political system in the Arab country.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the roadside bombing, however, the militants of the Yemen-based al-Qaida offshoot are usually blamed for attacks of this kind, mostly occurring in the country's southern regions.

The al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, which emerged in January 2009, is considered the most strategic threat to Yemen and its oil- rich neighbor Saudi Arabia.
