Seven people were killed Friday in a border Syrian town by rebels infiltrating from neighboring Lebanon, the official SANA news agency reported.
An armed "terrorist" group sneaked from Khurbet al-Roman area in Lebanon into Syria's al-Ghayta village in the town of Talkalakh, then opened fire on the civilians, claiming the lives of seven people, said SANA, adding that an army unit clashed with the group, killing and injuring scores of them, while others fled back to Lebanon.
The Syrian authorities have for long complained about the infiltration of rebels from Lebanon, urging the Lebanese authorities to tighten the control over their borders.
The prolonged Syrian crisis has spilled over into Lebanon, prompting different Lebanese militant groups to come to Syria to fight either on the side of the rebels or with the government troops.
