The United States condemns "in the strongest terms possible" the recent terrorist bombings in Lebanon, State Department said Monday.

The US also urges all parties in Lebanon to exercise restraint and refrain from contributing to the cycle of violence, spokeswoman Jen Psaki told a press briefing.

One person was killed and two others injured Monday in a van explosion on the main road of Choueifat, a town southeast of Lebanese capital Beirut. On Saturday, a suicide bomber blew up his car in the eastern town of Hermel, killing three people and injuring 18 more.

"It is reprehensible that the people of Lebanon have once again been subjected to these acts of terrorism," said Psaki, adding that they should not have to live in fear in daily lives.

The US reiterates its strong support for the Lebanese armed forces and the internal security forces in maintaining Lebanon's security, Psaki said.

The US also extends deepest condolences to the victims and their families and calls for the perpetrators of the attacks to be brought to justice, the spokeswoman added.
