Police in Kabul have discovered a quantity of arms and ammunition and arrested two suspects, police said on Sunday.

"Police have discovered a number of arms and ammunitions including eight Kalashnikov assault rifles and explosive devices from Dehzabz area of Kabul and arrested two persons in this case," the statement added.

The militants were attempting to use the contraband in terrorist activities, but police foiled their malicious design, according to the statement.

Taliban militants fighting the government have yet to make comment.
