More than 10,000 Syrians fled to Turkey in the past 10 days as clashes escalated on the Turkish- Syrian border, Turkish Anadolu News Agency reported Tuesday.
Over 10,000 Syrians, many of whom are injured or elder people, crossed the Cilvegozu Border Gate into Turkey's southernmost province of Hatay over the past ten days, said the report.
Local officials expected that more Syrians would flee the escalating violence in Syria in the coming days.
According to the Turkish government, the number of Syrian refugees in Turkey has exceeded 714,000. Among them, 70 percent of the refugees are women and children.
