Security forces have discovered a weapon cache of Taliban militants in the eastern Kapisa province, a statement of National Directorate for Security (NDS) or the country's intelligence agency released here on Sunday said.

"Personnel of NDS have discovered huge weapon cache of Taliban rebels in Kapisa province and thus foiled possible terrorist attacks," the statement added.

According to the statement, the cache contains a variety of arms and ammunitions including several assault rifles, hand grenades, anti-personal mines, anti-vehicle mines and 9 kg of explosive objects.

Taliban militants who have been fighting the government have yet to make comment.
