The city's commerce authority has seized more than 12,000 counterfeit brand products in a recent series of raids on knockoff markets and factories, the municipal government said Sunday.

After receiving several tips, officials from the Shanghai Administration for Industry and Commerce found 400 scarves and ties with counterfeit Burberry brand labels at the Shanghai South Bund Soft-Spinning Material Market in Huangpu district, according to a post on the Shanghai Municipal People's Government's microblog.

At a market on Nanjing Road West in Jing'an district, officials found 5,736 knockoff Disney, Chanel, UGG and Longchamp brand products. In Zhabei district, officials seized 1,263 knockoff Samsung mobile phone components at a mobile phone market near the Shanghai Railway Station.

In Jiuting town in Songjiang district, officials found 2,596 counterfeit Schneider, Merlin Gerin and Clipsal brand products after receiving complaints from the trademark owners.

Officials in Minhang district found 2,100 articles of clothing carrying counterfeit Disney, Snoopy and Piyopiyo brand labels at a factory.
