A Syrian girl has been stoned to death for having a Facebook account, the Breitbart News reported on Monday.

According to the report, the girl named Fatoum al-Jassem was executed after being convicted by a sharia court in Ar-Raqqa, which is currently under control of the formerly Al Qaeda affiliated Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS).

The jihadist court in the ISIS controlled area sentenced Jassem to death on the basis that she had a Facebook account, which is "zina," or immoral.

The court said Jassem deserved to be punished in the same way as adultery. She was stoned to death by a mob of Islamists in the north Syrian city.

ISIS is an extremist faction of the Syrian rebellion against the government of Bashar al-Assad, and also has a presence in Iraq.

The organization has become known for its brutal interpretation of Islam doctrines in its controlled areas, to the extent that even Al Qaeda has cut ties with it.
