Syria's Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad on Wednesday accused the Western-backed Syrian National Coalition (SNC), the main opposition umbrella in exile, of not caring about terrorism in Syria.
Mekdad's remarks were made during his meeting with a number of foreign ambassadors to Syria, during which he stressed that the Syrian government has worked since the beginning of the crisis to achieve a political solution.
He charged that the SNC doesn't care about halting terrorism in Syria, particularly following its rejection to a number of statements made by the Syrian government's delegation to the Geneva II conference, pertaining the need to combat the rampant terrorism in Syria.
Meanwhile, Mekdad said that the Geneva II conference hasn't failed, despite the fact that the first two rounds of the peace talks ended last week without achieving tangible results.
A third round was planned, as the Syrian government has agreed on an agenda presented by the international mediator Lakhdar Brahimi regarding the upcoming round of talks.
