A total of 10 people, including two children, were killed and many others wounded Wednesday in mortar attacks, according to the official SANA news agency.

Five people, including two kids, were killed in separate mortar attacks against areas in the countryside of the capital Damascus, said SANA.

Three people were killed in the northwestern province of Idlib and two others in the central province of Hama by similar attacks, the report added.

Mortar attacks have become a daily routine in Syria's three- year-old crisis, as the rebels in some areas opt for such tactic to wobble the government troops' grip on power.

Meanwhile, the oppositional Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based watchdog, said that four rebels of the al-Qaida- inspired Nusra Front were killed in clashes with government troops in Hama, adding that the clashes also led to the killing of five Syrian soldiers.

Clashes in Syria have been incessant for almost the last three years amid ongoing efforts to find a political solution to the pro- longed crisis.

The Syrian crisis has left more than 100,000 people killed, and 9.3 million people within Syria and more than 2 million others outside the country in need of humanitarian assistance.
