The United States is not entitled to pressure Iran to scrap its missile program in the context of nuclear talks, an Iranian senior Iranian cleric said on Friday.
"We must have defensive power. Should we reduce our defensive power for you (the US government) to invade us anytime you desire?" Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati was quoted as saying by Press TV.
He stressed during the Friday prayers that Iran's nuclear negotiators should not let the P5+1 group, the other party of the talks, to discuss issues other than the Islamic republic's nuclear program.
"The topic and the agenda only focus on nuclear issues, and in this regard, we will never give up our right," the Iranian cleric added.
Iranian foreign minister has said that Iran's defense and scientific capabilities were not on the agenda of the nation's nuclear talks with the P5+1 group that concluded in Vienna Thursday.
On the same day, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton and Zarif announced the timetable for the next round of the talks.
