The Cambodian Red Cross ( CRC) on Saturday distributed China-donated relief items to victims of last year's flood, HIV/AIDS patients and disabled people.

Bun Rany, CRC President and wife of Prime Minister Hun Sen, and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Bu Jianguo handed out the relief items including rice, noodle, clothes, mosquito nets, blankets and cash.

The relief goods are part of the one million US dollar donation from the Chinese government following severe flooding last year.

Bun Rany highly appreciated China for providing humanitarian assistance to Cambodia whenever the country suffered from natural disasters

"The Cambodian people will never forget China's aid during difficult time," she said.

Bun Rany said the donation from China was used to buy 2,000 tonnes of milled rice for vulnerable people in the country.

So far, the CRC has provided about 500 tonnes of rice to 20,000 families in 10 provinces.

Ambassador Bu said China has regarded Cambodia as a good friend, neighbor, brother, and partner, and the two countries have usually supported each other during difficult time.

She also promised to continue assisting Cambodia in developing economy and reducing poverty.
