Lebanon's President Michel Suleiman on Tuesday called on member states of the International Support Group for Lebanon to donate to the group amid rising security threats in the country.
"I call on friends of Lebanon to contribute to the group's treasury, to which Norway has made the first contribution," Suleiman said during a meeting with ambassadors of the group's member states in Lebanon.
He stressed that "this support is important in many fields especially after the increasing terrorist attacks in Lebanon."
The group was set up last year under the chairmanship of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to help Lebanon deal with the consequences of the Syrian civil war.
Also present at the meeting were UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Dereck Plumbly, the Arab League Ambassador to Lebanon as well as representatives of the UN Aid Program, the World Bank and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
