Iran's parliament committee on foreign policy and national security Alaeddin Boroujerdi said here Friday that the best possible way to solve the Syrian crisis is through the political process.
Boroujerdi, who is on a visit to Lebanon, made the remarks after meetings with Lebanese speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Tammam Salam and Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil.
He said: "As the Syrian crisis enters the third year, I hope that we will witness a change in the policies of ... the United States in the region," accusing Israel and the United States
He added: "It is up to the United Nations and the International community to pave the way for the feuding Syrian parties to engage in a political dialogue that would eventually leads to a fair and transparent presidential elections this year."
In addition, Boroujerdi said that the Israeli strike on a border position of Lebanese military party of Hezbollah on Monday aimed to "boosting the extremist militants morale."
He expressed confidence in the Lebanese army's ability in putting an end to the "terrorist" activities in the country.
Boroujerdi arrived in Lebanon Thursday from Syria and is to expected to meet with President Michel Suleiman.
