An Iranian foreign ministry official headed to the Russian capital of Moscow to discuss the latest developments in the region, particularly in Syria, with Russian officials, Press TV reported on Sunday.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian headed to the Russian capital for exchanging views on the recent developments in Syria with senior Russian officials.
During his stay, the Iranian diplomat is also expected to meet with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov to elaborate Tehran's stance on the political solution to the crisis in the Arab state over the three years, according to the report.
Iran and Russia are main supporters of the ruling party in Syria in its conflict with the opposition groups.
The second-round negotiations of the Geneva II peace conference concluded in mid-February without any tangible results. Even the date for the next round of talks could not be set due to the disagreement between the Syrian government and opposition.
