As many as 6 militants were killed by the Algerian army forces since Saturday in the woods of Sidi Ali Bouneb between the adjacent provinces of Boumerdes and Tizi Ouzou, Defence Ministry said Monday in a statement reported by the official APS news agency.

"Following the combing operation conducted in the woods of Sidi Ali Bouneb, two terrorists were killed and ammunition were recovered," read the statement.

As many as 6 militants were killed in this combing since last Saturday, as several weapons were recovered, including an anti- tank rocket launcher, two automatic rifles, semi-automatic rifle, two hunting guns, and ammunition, while several hideouts were destroyed.

A few militants affiliated to al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb ( AQIM) are still taking refuge in the woods located in three adjacent provinces of Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou and Bouira in east of Algiers.
