Israeli allegations about Iran supplying advanced rockets for militants in the Gaza Strip is "a lie," the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif said Thursday.

The pro-Israeli reports about an Iranian ship carrying arms for Gaza coincided with annual anti-Iran campaign of American Israel Public Affairs Committee and is an "amazing coincidence" or "the same failed lie," Zarif wrote on his Twitter.

Also, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, said Thursday that "the allegations of... a ship carrying weapons from Iran to Gaza is not true," according to official IRNA news agency.

"The claim is merely based on repetitive and baseless lies of the Zionist media," Amir-Abdollahian was quoted as saying.

The Israeli special forces on Wednesday intercepted an Iranian ship in the Red Sea that ferried missiles for militants in the Gaza Strip, Israeli military said.

A search on board the Panamanian-flagged vessel, named the KLOS- C, yielded dozens of Syrian-made M-302 surface-to-surface rockets that were concealed under cement bags, it said, adding that Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah fired this type of rocket into northern Israel during the 33-day war in 2006.
