The US House of Representatives will inaugurate the Japan Caucus on March 24, an alliance focused on strengthening US-Japan ties, the Kyodo News Agency reported Sunday.

The alliance was initiated by Republican representative Devin Nunes and Democrat Joaquin Castro. Both of them have been promoting the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and believe that Japan's participation in the treaty serves the US' interests.

So far, about 50 bipartisan representatives have said they will attend the inauguration ceremony, according to Kyodo.
