The Huaxia Musical troupe is planning a new musical with Chinese film director Lu Chuan titled Shaolin, which will adapt one of China's most well known cultural elements into a musical format, the troupe announced on Friday.

Xu Feng, vice director of the troupe, released the troupe's goals for 2014 which include plans for four new musicals and 243 shows in theaters. The troupe is also planning on holding a grand ceremony to promote their Chinese musicals and introduce to audiences this new method of performance that they have created.

A highlights of their new plans is their cooperation with movie director Lu Chuan, who was involved in producing the live show Attraction at the Bird's Nest Olympic stadium last year.

To celebrate the troupe's second anniversary, they will bring their classic plays, including Kunlun Shenhua (lit. legend of Kunlun) and Nasirdin Afandi, to the Shanghai Cultural Square.
