The Lebanese army detonated on Monday a booby-trapped car in the east Bekaa region which they suspected was being prepared for use in a bombing attack, the National News Agency reported.

The car was found abandoned on a secondary road between the towns of Ras Baalbeck and Fajiha, about 5 km north of a village where a suicide car bombing killed four people and injured 10 others on Sunday.

Al-Nusra Front, an al-Qaida linked terrorist organization, claimed responsibility of the bombing, saying it was in retaliation for "the Hezbollah involvement in Syria," where government troops recently recaptured the border town of Yabroud from rebel fighters.

Hezbollah, believed to be instrumental in the success of the Syrian forces on the battlefield, including the seizure of Yabroud, has been targeted by frequent car bombings and rocket attacks in Lebanon over the past year.
