Thousands of Palestinians demonstrated on Monday all over the West Bank in support of President Mahmoud Abbas who will meet with US President Barack Obama in the White House.

The participants in the rally chanted slogans calling on Abbas to stick to the Palestinian stable merits and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and not to surrender to any US pressure to make more concessions during his meeting with Obama which will discuss the fate of the peace process.

Abbas Fatah Party leaders and his Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah led the rally in public squares in the big West Bank cities, mainly Ramallah. The demonstrators held pictures of Abbas and late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and waved Palestinian flags.

During the rally held in the center of Ramallah, several leaders delivered speeches sending messages to Abbas, Israel, the United States and the international community.

Wassel Abu Yousef, the official in Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) told the rally that the Palestinians "will never accept the recognition of Israel as a Jewish state," adding that the Palestinians "will confront the attempts to block the establishment of the Palestinian state on the territories occupied in 1967."

Mahmoud Alloul, a member in Fatah Party's Central Committee told the rallies that these popular demonstrations "are a clear message to the world that the Palestinian people are sticking to their land and their legitimate rights."

"All American pressures on the Palestinians will be useless because the Palestinian people are standing behind one leader called Mahmoud Abbas," said Alloul.

Similar demonstrations and rallies were also held in other West Bank cities, mainly Nablus and Hebron.

Meanwhile, Abbas Fatah Party accused Hamas movement in Gaza for preventing the Palestinians from rallying to show support to Abbas. The group unveiled that Hamas security used force to disperse Abbas supporters in Gaza who came to rally in support for him.

Abbas will hold later on Monday a meeting with President Obama in the White House to discuss the fate of the peace process and the direct peace talks with Israel.

According to senior officials closed to Abbas, the Palestinian president will debate with Obama hot files, mainly the extension of the nine-month ultimatum for the peace talks and the recognition of Israel as Jewish state.
