An explosive device hit an Israeli military vehicle on Tuesday in the Golan Heights near the northern border with Syria, injuring three soldiers, a military source said.
The vehicle drove over the explosive near the Druze town of Majdal Shams in northern Israel. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said they are looking into details of the incident.
Local media said the three injured Israeli soldiers were evacuated by a helicopter to a hospital in Haifa northwest of Israel.
A similar incident occurred on Friday when an explosive device was detonated near an IDF jeep patrolling the border. No casualties or damages were reported.
In response to the incident, the IDF fired shells into southern Lebanon on Friday evening. The IDF identified the incident as the work of Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah's militant wing.
Two weeks ago, an IDF force spotted suspicious persons allegedly attempting to place an explosive device near the Syrian- Israeli border along the Golan Heights. The force fired at the culprits, but no casualties were reported.
The Israeli military then said the Lebanese Shiite militant Hezbollah, whose members are also fighting in the Syrian civil war, was behind the attempt.
In November last year two Israeli military officers suffered light and mediocre wounds from a detonated explosive not far from Friday's incident near the border.
In February reports mounted of Israeli fighter jet strikes on strategic positions on the Lebanese-Syrian Border. Hezbollah vowed to avenge the strikes, which they said were carried out by the Israeli Air Force.
