Emilio Zeballos struck a stoppage time equalizer to earn Defensor Sporting a 2-2 draw with Brazilian champions Cruzeiro in their Copa Libertadores duel on Thursday.
Former Real Madrid forward Julio Baptista and midfielder Everton Ribeiro appeared to ensure victory for the hosts, netting in the space of 10 minutes early in the second half to give Cruzeiro a 2-0 lead.
But Felipe Gedoz reduced the margin on 66 minutes for the Uruguayan side before Zeballos' cool finish with only seconds remaining.
The result at the Mineiro stadium leaves Cruzeiro third in Group 6 with four points while Defensor sporting are second on seven points.
In other matches on Thursday, Atletico Paranaense beat Universitario de Deportes 3-0, Cerro Porteno eclipsed O'Higgins 2-1, Lanus defeated Deportivo Cali 2-0 and Union Espanola overcame San Lorenzo 1-0.
