Tires of 34 vehicle belonging to Palestinians were slashed early Monday morning in the Palestinian neighborhood of Beit Hanina in East Jerusalem, amid another Price Tag attack in the city, police confirmed to Xinhua.
Price Tag attacks are acts of vandalism perpetrated against Palestinians and their property, carried out by Jewish right wing extremists. It includes torching cars, chopping of olive trees and spray-painting "Price Tag" and racist slogans on walls of Palestinian houses.
"We were surprised, this is a tranquil area with good neighborly relations," Hussam, a resident of the neighborhood told Ynet news website. "Someone is trying to harm the fabric of life here," he added.
This is the second time that Beit Hanina, Jerusalem's largest Arab neighborhood, has been set as a target for Price Tag attack over the past year. Last June, 21 vehicles were vandalized and hate-graffiti was spray-painted on walls. The police opened an investigation but no suspects were arrested.
According to figures released by the UN last month, the number of attacks against Palestinians almost quadrupled in the last eight years, increasing from 115 in 2006 to 399 in 2013. However, indictments were filed only in 8.5 percent of the cased.
