An 8.1-magnitude earthquake jolted sea off north coast of Chile at 7:46 am Wednesday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
The epicenter was monitored at 19.6 degrees south latitude and 70.7 degrees west longitude, with a depth of 10 kilometers, the center said.
The US Geological Survey measured the quake to be of 8.0 magnitude.
