300,000- the maximum amount of money in yuan that one can get as a reward for reporting any illegal behavior in the food and drug industry, according to a new regulation released by the Beijing Food and Drug Administration. This is worth $48,000. Illegal behavior includes using illegal additives and making and selling fake food and drugs. The regulation is now in place.

6- the number of consecutive years that malignant cancerous tumors have topped the cause of death of Beijing citizens, according to statistics released by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Population and Family Planning recently. According to the data, the rate of liver and stomach cancer is almost steady; the cases of esophagus cancer have been reduced, but there has been a huge rise in the rate of thyroid cancer, prostate cancer and cervical cancer.

10- the number of students at a primary school in Xisanqi, Haidian district, that were suspected of suffering from food poisoning recently. According to their parents, the students' symptoms included vomiting, diarrhea and fever. All these students had dined at the school cafeteria on the same day. The food provided by the cafeteria that day was pork ribs and Chinese cabbage. Local authorities have started an investigation.

90%- the proportion of people in the suburbs of Beijing who will be close to a medical center in partnership with a hospital in central Beijing. To facilitate residents living in suburbs, local authorities have launched a project which allows a total of 82 downtown hospitals to provide support for 110 suburban medical treatment centers, which means that at least 90 percent of residents living in the suburbs won't need to go to the city center to get top notch medical treatment when they want to see a doctor.
